C. elegans Behavior & Phenotyping
Defecation
Defecation is an highly regulated ultradian rhythmic process. It can be used to assess defects in neuromuscular signaling.
APPLICATIONS
Can be used to study diseases such as Epilepsy, Alzheimer disease and Parkinson’s disease.
ASSAY DESCRIPTION
Pick one young adult worm to a fresh NGM plate seeded with OP50. Wait 5 min (Worm will not feed or defecate for 1-2 min because of transferring.) and take a video for 10 min.
DATA COLLECTED
The dataset includes three biological replicates. We collect over 10 worm videos and analyze defecation interval cycle (pBoc-pBoc time) and % of expulsion in 10 min recording. Statistical results are analyzed by ANOVA test.
The defecation cycle of C. elegans.
