C. elegans Behavior & Phenotyping Capabilities

C. elegans Behavior & Phenotyping

Progeny Production

Reveal developmental effects of mutations and compound treatment by quantifying brood sizes.

Measuring brood size. NMX410 and NMX421 have a much lower brood size than N2 wild-type and several other samples.

  • APPLICATIONS

Mutations and compounds can affect animal viability and progeny production. Quantification of brood size can reveal developmental effects of mutations and compound treatment.

  • ASSAY DESCRIPTION

Single L4 C. elegans are incubated on a plate at 20℃ where they become adults and start laying eggs. The adult C. elegans are removed after 48 hours. Two days later the number of L3/L4 and adult worms are counted.

  • DATA COLLECTED

The number of progeny produced by each single animal is determined. Five biological replicates are tested.
