Testing the efficacy of JadeAging®, a Chinese Medicine based longevity formulation, using InVivo Biosystems’ suite of in vivo platforms

Recently, we have decided to partner with Chenland Nutritionals, Inc., utilizing our suite of in vivo platforms to test the efficacy of their longevity product, JadeAging®. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula’s active ingredients are naturally derived: Rehmanniae Radix, Poriae, and Ginseng Radix. In this experiment we will focus on lifespan, healthspan, and transcriptional changes related to aging, and we will document all of it — this article will be the first in a blog-along series where we will walk through our experimental process. So let’s get started!

How do we use Machine Learning to Automatically Measure C.elegans Lifespan?

In order to give our clients the most accurate data possible, and to minimize the chance for human errors, we have implemented machine learning to help us automatically measure C. elegans lifespan. Machine learning is being implemented across all facets of biology, so we wanted to provide an example of the data we acquire using our automated lifespan technology.

The Benefits of Standardizing Zebrafish Diets

We recently were asked to procure a special zebrafish diet, which got us thinking about zebrafish diets overall. Once we started researching this custom diet, we realized that the zebrafish diet is more complicated than one might think. There are many considerations that go into a zebrafish diet, as it is not yet standardized. Currently, …

Mistakes and Lessons Learned Part 5: Maintaining Homozygous Cultures/Male Identification

Summary: In this five part series we are exploring some common mishaps when working with C. elegans, so you can hopefully avoid them too! Especially since when testing a specific variable (compound, strain, etc.) we want to limit all other variables that may skew results or lead to inaccurate data. In the final installation of this …
